NHTSA-MDB barrier model is a shell element model, which is developed by Dynawe based on the free model of ANSYS company, and the latest version is 1.0. The total mass of the barrier is 1367kg. The impact performance of the barrier is determined by the characteristics of honeycomb aluminum material.

 

 

Model performance

Two collision analysis test benchmarks are used to illustrate the performance of the model:

 

1. Frontal 100% overlapping rigid barrier impact

In this analysis, the barrier strikes the rigid wall at a speed of 35 km / h, as shown in the figure.
